Welcome to Shebbear Village Hall & Playing Fields

The village hall stands in the heart of the village and is a large 170 square metre hall with ample dedicated car parking and a playing field with play equipment.

The hall was built in 1953 but has now been completely modernised with a suspended ceiling, new sound system, lighting, newly installed professional style kitchen and a committee/meeting room created at the rear of the hall.  There are toilets, a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities and a Skittle Alley which can also be hired.

It is ideal for all type of events including Wedding receptions, parties, fundraising, film nights and much more.

Latest News
  • Village Hall improvements

We are pleased to report that the latest hall refurbishment project has now been completed with a total spend to date of £13,535, which has completely modernised your hall and, with all the previous improvements, it is now a place to be very proud of.

This recent work has been funded by various grants, a legacy and through ongoing fundraising.  We, the Committee are very grateful for the support we have received both financially and verbally for this project.  We would also like to thank all of the contractors involved, without whom the project would not have been completed on time or on budget.

If you have not visited the hall recently why not come to one of the fundraising events we will be holding later this year to see for yourselves your new modernised village hall.

  • Playground Equipment Update

In previous updates we mentioned the £20,000 of play equipment installed last year.  Recently a seesaw was added as a replacement for the troublesome roundabout.

The Committee have also allocated a budget of £5000 towards providing facilities for the older children/young adults of Shebbear.  We are in discussions with all interested parties to establish their preferences and hope to announce our plans shortly.
